Jason Statham swears he nailed insane Bottle Cap Challenge on first try: 'Boom! One take'  2 Months ago

Source:   USA Today

We were definitely entertained and wowed by Jason Statham's Bottle Cap Challenge.

The 51-year-old action star caused a viral sensation (21 million views and counting) with the spin kick that whirled the top right off a water bottle, shown in glorious slow-motion and posted on his Instagram page July 1.

"It was just a bit of fun," Statham told USA TODAY at the "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" premiere Saturday.

Pardon us for being skeptical, but that kick would be hard even for a martial arts madman like Statham. So we asked, "How many takes did it take to hit it so perfectly?"

Statham insists he nailed the impressive feat on his first attempt for the camera. He says he took some time to measure the distance for the kick.

"And then boom!" said Statham with a very satisfied smile. "One take."

We made the mistake of asking if he used special effects or camera trick. It is a pretty amazing shot.

"Do you want a lesson?" Statham said, getting all argy-bargy (We're hoping he was joking here). Then he offered his master-class Bottle Cap Challenge tip: "Never take your eye off the cap."

Statham has been loving how the Bottle Cap Challenge has swept the Internet, with the likes of John Mayer giving it a go and Sophie Turner doing her own take.

"It was just great to see something seemingly so small become such a great thing," said Statham, "People I never thought would have, have tried it."

One guy who has not tried the challenge is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Statham's frenemy co-star in "Hobbs & Shaw."

We'll have to see if that challenge is dropped after The Rock dealt his co-star a mortal verbal blow at the Saturday premiere, telling the audience that Statham "ran" from the theater when there was a panic over sparks flying in the seats.

The Rock said he was joking. Really, he did.
